Coach, consultant, accountant or agency: who should you call?

They solve different problems, and the wrong one can cost you a year. Three questions tell you which to call, including when it isn’t us.

Three questions

  1. Do you know what’s actually wrong?

No, or it feels like everything: you need someone to find it before anyone fixes anything. That’s a diagnosis, and it’s where we start. If budget is tight, your local Small Business Development Center offers advice at no cost (in Utah, here’s where). Yes: go to question two.

  2. Is the problem that not enough people are asking?

Yes, and you could handle more work tomorrow: a marketing agency is the right call. No, enquiries come in but slip through, or you’re too stretched to take more: more marketing will make it worse. Go to question three.

  3. Do you know exactly what needs to change?

Yes, and it’s financial (pricing, funding, forecasting): an accountant or a part-time finance director. Yes, and you just need it built: a software or automation builder. Yes, but you struggle to make it stick: a business coach. Not really, or it’s spread across sales, admin and money at once: that’s the situation we’re built for. We find it and build the fix.

Ask anyone these before you hire them

  • What will I have at the end that I keep, if we stop working together?
  • Is the price fixed and agreed before you start?
  • What happens if you find the problem isn’t what I think it is?
  • Who actually does the work: you, or someone I haven’t met?

Our answers: you keep everything we build; the price is fixed and you see it before anything starts; if the problem is somewhere else we tell you, and if we’re not the right fit we point you to who is; and you deal with Joe from start to finish.

The home page has a side-by-side comparison if you want it at a glance.

Think it might be us? Before we talk, Joe reads your business from what’s public and sends a one-page read of where it’s most likely leaking. If it turns out we’re the wrong call, you’ll hear that too. You commit to nothing.
